Elder Hikimai Johnson - Feb 2009

Hikimai is still serving in Hemet, CA and enjoying his time doing missionary work. His trainer extended his mission, but was transferred to another area. Hiks new companion is Elder Tart. He is from Clinton, North Carolina of all places. This was in my District when I served in Fayetteville, NC. Small world! We have communicated with this comps mother and it's been fun exchanging facts about our son's. Elder Tart is the only boy in his family and last child.

Hikimai and his trainer had a baptism before transfers. He wrote that he played the piano for the baptism and also gave the baptism talk. He is so excited about his first baptism. The person's name is James and they are now teaching him the new member discussions.

They are working hard and the Lord has blessed them with new investigators. His letters are so much fun to read as he describes the work and teaching the investigators. They really have it made with dinner appointments almost daily. Of course they still eat at DQ for free. He mentioned that he has put on a few pounds. That is fine since he was like a bean pole when he left for the MTC.

He loves the gospel and relates how the spirit directs them to areas that they didn't know existed. They were tracting one day and came across an area in between orchards that they had driven by time after time and didn't see it. When they started tracting, they taught at the first door they knocked on. They then talked to a guy that was fixing someone's car and he wanted to know more. He related a story of when he was in prison, people layed their hands on his head and gave him a blessing. During the blessing, he saw a vision of an angel. When Hiks pulled out the Book of Mormon, he said, "That's the angel that I saw in my vision, who is that"? They taught him as much as time allowed since he was working. Unfortunately he lives in another area. Hiks gave him a Joseph Smith pamphlet, got his name and address and forwarded it to the mission home. He has been blessed with so many neat experiences that it would take too much space to write it all.

We thank all of you for your prayers and faith in behalf of Hikimai. He has truly been blessed by your prayers.
